About Us

In 1995, we moved to Utopia, TX.  Our property was overgrown with high grass.  We bought three Spanish cross weanlings to eat the pasture down.  Although Mike was raised on a south Texas ranch and I had a great deal of animal experience.  We knew nothing about goats.   The first thing we learned is that goats are browsers-not grazers.  The kids became pets and were into everything.  They even rode in a wagon behind the tractor.

We acquired more goats when a neighbor who owed me $25.00—paid me with five baby goats.  This was our first experience in bottle feeding baby goats.  We all made it.  Thanks to God and many prayers.

Next came our first milk goat, Ole Belle.  I rescued this old (skin & bones nanny) from the local sale barn.  Everything was fine for a couple of days.  That is until I noticed her lopped-sided udder was getting larger and larger.  I realized she is going to need to be milked.  Although Mike could milk, being a Tugboat Captain, he was away from home 20 days a month.  Luckily, I had just purchased a book on dairy goats.  I learned to milk from the book.  OLE Belle got fat and sassy.

Our interest in dairy goats increased rapidly. Therefore, I started doing extensive research on nutrition, health care and breeding.  I acquired numerous books along with research material on goats and goat dairying.  In addition,  advice from different universities with goat research programs.  I continue to do research to increase my knowledge of dairy goats.

In 1996, we purchased our first registered dairy goats.  We rapidly replaced and upgraded our herd planning for milk production and correct conformation.  We have owned and raised all of the different dairy breeds.  Though, we are very fond of all the dairy breeds.  We are now concentrating on the Alpine breed.

We have been very active in showing dairy goats for the past 13 years.  We have shown Alpine, Saanen and Nubian in the past and continue to show our Alpine.  Our Alpine does excel in the show ring and in milk production .

We continue our stringent health program as we have from the very beginning.  All of our animals are tested for CAE and CL.  As well as, TB and Brucellosis before they come into our herd.

Our goal is to continue to increase our knowledge in the breeding and care of the dairy goat.  At the same time striving for excellent in both MILK and SHOW.

We are having fun and enjoying our goats and happy to say goats are great.
